Are you having a special celebration such as a Wedding, Civil Partnership, Christening or Birthday and want a gift list with a difference?

Your special day could make a difference to hundreds of patients with life-limiting illnesses, their carers and families. You could either ask your guests for donations to the hospice instead of gifts or you can have special celebration favours as a unique way of thanking your guests for sharing your day with you.

“we already have kettles and wine glasses, candles and ornaments, so for our wedding it felt natural to help others, by asking our guests to make a donation to Compton Hospice instead of buying us gifts”

It’s Easy! This is how it works:

Option One - Make a Donation in Lieu of a Gift

Your guests can make a donation in lieu of a gift to the hospice online.

Alternative Gift List

  • £20.00 will pay for a bereaved child to have a fun day out with a counsellor and other bereaved children, encouraging them to have fun and laugh again.
  • £25.00 will provide a relaxing Complementary Therapy session for a patient.
  • £50.00 will pay for a Lymphoedema patient to have a massage session, reducing pain caused by swollen limbs.
  • £80.00 will buy a pager for our ward nurses to wear so they are always contactable by patients.
  • £128.00 will pay for a Homecare Nurse to visit a patient in their own homes.

You could also include an alternative gift list which you can download here, print off and include with your gift envelopes.

Option Three - Celebration Favours

“Our guests loved wearing the pin badges, it was a way of remembering Mom, who had received care from the hospice. It was as if she was there with us on the day”

Donating to Compton Hospice instead of buying traditional sugared almonds is a very meaningful way of thanking your guests for sharing your special day with you. You can request personalised favour cards (£1.00 each) which have the option of adding a pin badge to them. (£1.50 per badge and card).

Order celebration favours it’s so simple to do, securely order online 28 days before your wedding to ensure they are delivered on time.

Option 4 - Celebrate a Life Donations in Memory of a Loved One

Losing a loved one is a very hard and senseless experience.Fundraising can be a practical way of remembering your loved one and a way of raising money for a cause that was important to them. It can also help to bring purpose to this time of loss.

"We chose to ask for donations instead of buying flowers at Dad's funeral. We were really touched by how much was raised especially as we knew what a good cause it was going to, as Compton cared for Dad."

"We bought pin badges for everyone who attended the funeral. It was a lovely gesture for everyone to wear them and still to this day, whenever I wear mine, I feel closer to Mum."

We are very grateful to all who support us in their time of grief by making donations. If you would like to make a donation in remembrance of a loved one then please do not hesitate to contact the fundraising department on 0845 2255 497 for a chat on how to make this personal to you.

We can help by supplying you with pre-printed gift envelopes which you simply distribute. They can be sealed and returned either to yourself or the hospice directly at the address printed on the envelope. Order your free envelopes here.
